Salary: $24.36 hourly for 40 hours per week

Qualifications:
– Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required
– Completion of secondary (high) school is required
– Completion of an accredited driver training course of up to three months duration, through a vocational school or community college is required
– On-the-job-training is provided
Job duties:
– Plan trip logistics and obtain required documentation to transport goods;
– Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations;
– Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes;
– Operate and drive straight to transport goods and materials;
– Ensure cargo is secured properly in accordance with safety requirements and follow proper safety procedures;
– Administer bills of lading and manually or electronically maintain log books;
– Perform emergency roadside repairs;
– Perform pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights and turning signals, brakes and cold storage;
– Receive and relay information to central dispatch;
– Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption;
– Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo;
– Handle moving or warehouse related tasks when necessary

– Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: Class 5/5F/G Licence (cars, small trucks and other 2-axle vehicles)
– Documentation knowledge, Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)
– Type of trucking and equipment: Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles)
– Communication systems experience: Trip recorder (on-board computer)
– Transportation/travel experience: Local
– Security and safety: Criminal record check
– Transportation/travel information: Travel expenses paid by employer, Valid driver’s licence
– Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail
