ABURI TORA’s roots are steeped in Japanese history, in contrast to its futuristic dining style. Owner Seigo Nakamura, originally from Miyazaki, Japan, took over his father’s restaurant, Sushi TORA when he was only 20 years old, in 1996. Four successful restaurants and ten years later, Seigo set his mind to bringing a traditional style of sushi restaurant - Kaiten, to Canada, but in a modern way with higher quality offerings. Paying homage to his roots, he named it TORA

Salary: $17 hourly for 30 to 44 hours per week

Qualifications:
– Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required;
– Completion of secondary (high) school is required;
– 2 years to less than 3 years of related work experience in a restaurant;
– Work experience in Japanese restaurants and having knowledge of Japanese Sushi is an asset.
Job duties:
– Supervise and co-ordinate activities of kitchen staff and servers;
– Ensure food service and quality control is always properly implemented according to the service and quality standards of Tora Restaurants;
– Prepare and submit daily sales reports to management;
– Establish work schedules, and methods and plans to meet the schedules for kitchen staff and servers;
– Prepare budget and cost estimates;
– Maintain records of stock, repairs, sales and wastage;
– Order supplies and beverages, and ensure a healthy level of stock is always maintained;
– Address customers’ complaints or concerns;
– Interview candidates for food and beverage server positions and train new employees.
