Salary: $22.00 hourly for 30 to 40 hours per week

Qualifications:
– Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English or French is required
– Completion of secondary (high) school is required
– At least 3 years of relevant experience as a cook in a restaurant or the completion of an apprenticeship program equivalent to the Diploma of Professional Studies in Cooking (DEP) with a minimum of 1,470 hours of training (ie, a program of at least a year and a half) is required
Job duties:
– Prepare, cook, and present hot and cold appetizers and dishes such as Japanese style salad, miso soup, and Tataki with minimal supervision;
– Prepare, cook, and present Japanese style deep fried dishes such as Crispy Gyoza, Tempura, and Karaage with minimal supervision;
– Prepare, cook, and present Japanese style Bentos with minimal supervision;
– Prepare, cook, and present Japanese style noodle dishes with minimal supervision;
– Prepare and present Sushi and other rice dishes with minimal supervision;
– Prepare Dashi (Japanese stock);
– Plan menus and determine size of food portions and presentation of food;
– Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment;
– Estimate food requirements and costs;
– Order supplies and equipment;
– Train new staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food;
– Supervise kitchen staff and helpers in preparation, cooking and handling of food;
– Clean and Inspect kitchen and work areas
