Qualifications:
– Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required;
– Completion of secondary (high) school is required;
– 3 years to less than 5 years of work experience as a pastry cook or a pastry chef in a restaurant including two years in a supervisory capacity is required
Job duties:
– Create new recipes for Neo Coffee Bars JaBistro, and Kinka Izakaya Restaurants in GTA;
– Suggest/plan new dessert menus according to the restaurants’ concepts, determine size of food portions and presentation of food, and estimate cost, together with the management of each location;
– Attend corporate operations meetings to report and discuss dessert related kitchen operations;
– Supervise activities of pastry Cooks, and ethnic food cooks handling house-made desserts at each location;
– Plan menus and ensure and control quality of dessert menus according to the company’s quality standards for Neo Coffee Bars, JaBistro, and Kinka Izakaya Restaurants in GTA;
– Plan and direct food preparation and baking activities of Neo Coffee Bars, JaBistro, and Kinka Izakaya Restaurants in GTA;
– Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory;
– Oversee dessert related kitchen operations, together with the management of each location;
– Analyze operating costs and other data;
– Requisition food and kitchen supplies;
– Prepare and bake house-made desserts on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions;
– Prepare desserts menus for customers with food allergies or intolerances upon request;
– Train staff in preparation, baking and handling of food;
– Instruct pastry cooks or ethnic food cooks in preparation, baking, decorating and presentation of dessert menus;
– Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs when necessary
