Salary: $23.00 hourly for 30 to 44 hours weekly

Qualifications:
– Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required
– Completion of secondary (high) school is required
– 3 years to less than 5 years of work experience in commercial food preparation is required
– Knowledge of Japanese ingredients and baking experience in traditional Japanese sweets and pastries is an asset

Job duties:
– Prepare seasonal confections such as Green Tea Opera, Fresh Fruit Almond Tart, Matcha Bread and Foie Gras Miso Pâte on a regular basis;
– Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances upon request;
– Analyze operating costs and other data;
– Create new Michelin quality dessert recipes on a regular basis;
– Instruct cooks in preparation, pastry making, garnishing and presentation of desserts;
– Supervise pastry cooks and other kitchen staff;
– Requisition food and kitchen supplies;
– Estimate food requirements and food and labour costs;
– Plan menus and ensure food always meets the quality standards of Aburi Hana;
– Train staff in pastry preparation, and handling of food.
