Salary: $30.59 hourly for 44 hours per week

Qualifications:
– Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required
– Completion of secondary (high) school is required
– 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in commercial food preparation, including two years in a supervisory capacity and experience as a sous-chef, specialist chef or chef is required
– Experience of working in a Japanese restaurant and/or knowledge on Japanese cuisine is an asset
Job duties:
– Prepare, make and present Nigiri Sushi, Aburi Oshi Sushi (torched and pressed Sushi), Sashimi dishes, and Sushi Rolls;
– Prepare, cook, and present appetizers and dishes on the menu on a regular basis;
– Prepare, cook and present Modern Kyo Kaiseki (feature course menu);
– Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances upon request;
– Ensure food meets Aburi Hana Restaurant’s quality standards;
– Clean and organize kitchen and work areas;
– Inspect work areas for safety or health hazards;
– Monitor quality and production levels of dishes prepared by chefs, cooks, and kitchen helpers;
– Plan and create new menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food, requirements and labour costs, and monitor and order supplies;
– Maintain records of food costs, consumption and inventory, and place orders as necessary;
– Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs;
– Analyze operating costs and other data;
– Supervise activities of chefs, cooks, kitchen and food service helpers;
– Train and supervise chefs, cooks, and kitchen helpers in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food;
– Recruit and hire staff
