Job Details:
Location: Markham, ON
Salary: $16.00 hourly for 30 to 44 hours per week

Qualifications:
– Ability to communicate in English orally and in writing is required
– Completion of secondary (high) school graduation is required
– 2 years to less than 3 years of work experience as a cook in an established restaurant is required
– Work experience in a Japanese restaurant and/or knowledge on Japanese cuisines is an asset

Job Duties:
Hot Kitchen Management:
– Schedule staff in Hot Kitchen;
– Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment, and order supplies and equipment;
– Clean and inspect kitchen and work areas;

Food Preparation:
– Prepare and cook meals in course menu except Sushi and specialty foods (including “Hida Beef”);
– Prepare and cook complete A La Carte dishes and foods with minimal supervision;
– Plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies;
– Train and supervise kitchen staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food including but not limited to food specialties listed above

Food specialties: Vegetables, fruits, nuts and mushrooms; Stocks, soups and sauces (including Japanese fish and/or seaweed broth “Dashi”); Fish and seafood; Meat, poultry and game (including first-class Japanese beef “Hida Beef”);
